It is my habit as I pray, to ask God to allow me to be a blessing to those that I meet. Today, I experienced the joy of answered prayers; in the blessings of my unemployed free time, I took my dear friend Rose out to run errands.
In July Rose celebrated her 88th birthday, because of health issues she no longer feels comfortable driving and doing her grocery shopping and running errands alone.
"Sweet Little Italian Rose", actually she does seem to be getting shorter, maybe she`s just settling, and I have been friend for over 35 years. Rose has been a wonderful Christian friend, mentor and second mom, what an amazing blessing to me and my entire family.
Our close knit community has also enjoyed the blessings, love and friendship of God`s faithful servant, "Sweet Little Rose". Throughout her nursing career and community involvement she was honored with the "Most Beautiful Person Award", which she most humbly accepted. It is my guess, that Rose has also prayed daily, to be a blessing to others! Thank you, God!
Today as Rose and I slowly made our way up and down the grocery store isles, I flashed forward, 30 years into my own life. It is my prayer that someone will love and care about my well being, as much as I love and care about, "Sweet Little Rose". Amen!
1 Timothy 5:3-4 Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.
