My B I B L E DAY 208

The Bible is defined by Webster as, the sacred writings of Christian religion, comprising of the Old and New Testaments. So glad, Webster left CHRISTian, in the definition, not adhering to modern day political correctness!

I woke up this morning with a Bible acrostic popping out of my brain, no I don`t know why, but here goes;

B - Books
I - in
B - Book
L - Life
E - Eternal

The bible was written over a period of 1600 years, 40 different authors wrote 66 books of the Bible. There were 400 silent years between the 39 book of the Old Testament and the 27 of the New Testament. However, Genesis to Revelation tells one unified story.

2 Timothy3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

That makes perfect sense to me, but what does the Bible mean to you, and how often do you use your Bible? Another true confession, yes I have owned a Bible or two all of my life; however until the past decade, I only used my Bible as a divine-book stash, for funeral cards of friends and loved ones. I sure have attended my fair share of funerals!

It wasn`t until I was presented with a gift of my own, Recovery Devotional Bible that my Bible took on new meaning and life for me. What a fantastic book of personal instructions. It would be a good idea, if every newborn baby and their parents left the hospital with this amazing gift, the Bible; dah, of course reading would be required.

As my intimate relationship with God began to intensify, so did my desire for a greater understanding and appreciation for His word. I could spend every waking hour trying to satisfy this insatiable appetite for Jesus! However, I do have to help my hubby make a living!

Another confession, I can`t read without a highlighter in hand. My Bible is a colorful array of highlighting delights, making for quick reference when needed. Some of my friend are just appalled, that I highlight and write every which way, as I discover messages!

Months after my mom`s death, I found my mom- mom`s tattered century old Bible, buried in boxes of stuff. What a blessing, the Bible is missing it`s front cover, but on the inside cover I soon found family treasures. Mom-mom`s handwritten family history. The date, when and where they were married, and who attended. The following page records the dates and time of my mother`s and her brother`s birth. Wow, mom-mom wrote in her Bible too!

I gently continued to examine this precious gem, I couldn't believe my eyes, on the last page was a handwritten message, to me from my mom. "To my daughter Linda I give this Bible to keep, and if she does not want it. I want Joyce(my sister) to have it. Please take good care of it because it belonged to mom."

Really, mom how could you possibly think that I would give this incredible family gem away! I will protect and value this most precious gift as long as I live; in time, I will decide who to bless with this family bonus!

You can only imagine the joy this find brought to my life; not to mention flooding tears of overwhelming delight!

2 Chronicles 9:12 King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for; he gave her more that she had brought to him............
