For the past several weeks my friend Lori and I have agreed to meet every morning at 7:15 am at my house to start out our day in prayer together. Lori passes my street on her way to work at Clairvaux Farm. Clairvaux is a group home, for people in need of love, support and shelter during times of transition in their lives. What a blessing to this community for decades. Proverbs 31:8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.
Praying your way into a new day with a friend is such a blessing. As we share a cup of coffee, we chat about what`s going on and how we are feeling. Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry, then we join hands in prayer!
Lori`s son Josh is in middle school and is the victim of bullies on a regular basis. I knew of a few bullies many years ago when I was in school, but what happens in our school systems today, is a sin! Of course, when I was in public high school over 40 years ago, we began each school day with the Lord`s Prayer and the pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Just maybe, God heard and answered those student prayers; sounds possible to me!
Lori is on her way out the door, as my cell phone rings, it`s my friend Joan. She is also on her way to work, yes she is calling from a hands-off speaker phone, there is now a law in Maryland prohibiting use of hand held cell phone while driving. Thank you, God!
For nearly a year Joan and I have also been morning prayer buddies. We started this delightful early morning habit when I was driving my big brown truck delivering Little Debbies.
I thank God, that I walked across the room at church one morning and introduced myself to a new face, Joan Alexander! Joan moved here from California, just because she listened to that nudge from God. Psalm 56:10 In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise--in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
God desires our accountability to one another, our prayers, our love, our faithfulness and our obedience. We need to love and support one another, can`t we all just get along ?
Matthew 6:9-13 "This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom the power and the Glory forever. AMEN!
