Rick`s Surgery Day 203

For the second time this month, I sat in the surgery center waiting room, as my husband Rick had surgery. This time it was to repair tendon damage in his foot, that resulted from his knee problem, that was corrected just 3 week ago.

I`m assuming that God had this timing issue figured out long before I did; what a blessing to have this time of unemployment. The luxury of free time is a precious gift. Thank you, God.

James 4:14-15 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say "If it is the Lord`s will, we will live and do this and that."

What the doctor thought would be a 45 minute surgery turned into almost 2 hours. However, very similar to the check your flight departure and arrival boards at the airport, the surgery center also provides this convenience. Rick`s flight number, oops surgery number, was 2010-4666, that number made me a little uncomfortable! At 12:45 Rick had landed comfortably in the operating room; hopefully soon I would be assured that he had arrived safely to the recovery room.

Of course, this time of waiting was laced with prayer, knowing that God was in control and piloting Rick`s surgery! It was also comforting to be soaked in prayer by friends and family.

Today as I patiently waited for Rick I was reading, "The Hole in our Gospel" by Richard Stearns, president of World Vision. Richard shares his call of obedience to God`s will for his life and the difficulties he experiences to accept.

He write, " American society does not talk much about calling anymore. It is more likely to think in terms of career. Yet, for many people a career becomes the altar on which they sacrifice their lives.

A calling, which is something I do for God, is replaced by a career, which threatens to become my god. A career is something I choose for myself; a calling is something I receive. A career is something I do for myself; a calling is something I do for God. A career promises status, money and power; a calling generally promises difficulty and even more suffering--and the opportunity to be used by God. A career is about upward mobility; a calling generally lead to downward mobility."

As I read this, I was reminded of what I told people, as my journey with my Curve`s Franchise was coming to an end. To the question, what are you going to do now, my answer was, "I going to work for God." I had no clue why these words kept coming out of my mouth. Some people looked at me like I had two heads, other just said, alright? Probably, assumed I was losing it!

However in my defense, for the past 3 years I have continued to be drawn closer to God. He continues to open door after door, pursuing me, inviting me to walk through them. During my time as a Little Debbie Distributor, my prayer ministry came to life. God prompted me to begin this blog, Hanging Out with God, Transforming the World one prayer at a Time.

God has used this blog to teach and nurture me, continuing to guide my steps, drawing me closer and closer to Him. Next week I have an interview with the pastor of a church, they are in need of a Visitation Associate. I do not have the preferred official United Methodist training, but I do have the passion, the desire and a fire for God, that may qualify me for this position.

Only God knows if this job is for me; send me Lord I will go, please, please! Only You know me from the inside out, where I`ve walked and what I have to offer.

At 4:00 Rick and I left the surgery center for our departure home, let the healing and recovery begin. He`s facing at least 6 weeks of recovery, launched by 2 week of very limited mobility. Thank you, God for the down time, at home to take good care of my soul-mate!

I would surely welcome your prayers.

2 Peter 1:10-11 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fail, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
