Homeward Bound Day 197

It`s nice to go away, but there`s no place like home, let`s get on board Dorothy! For the second time this week, we boarded, one of those little planes with tires the same size as our jet ski trailer! But it`s not my job to worry about the mechanic or tires on the plane, just bucket up and enjoy the ride!

I was seated next to 19 year old Heather, she was returning home to New Hampshire after a 2 week visit with her sister and her 3 nephews. This was Heather`s first solo flight; not all was going well. She was struggling with the stress of a 5 hour delay in her plans, because of mechanical delays!

I recalled the same feelings that I`d struggled with many years ago, on a flight with my mother, to visit my brother Ernie after emergency heart surgery. That was long before the comfort zone of cell phones, we were disconnected. We had no means of reaching Rick, as he waited at the airport for our arrival.

Has a quarter of century technology brought us closer to God, or widened the gap of our dependency on Him? We need to always keep God on speed-dial with our prayers!

Back to Heather, during our 2 hours together, I assured her that her connecting flight in Philadelphia would be a piece of cake, and that she would arrive home safely. She was so home sick!

I offered to pray for her, and gave her a small wooden cross, that she immediately attached to her bag. The cross just happened to have one of those tiny easy connect chains! I shared with Heather that in the past couple of years, I had given away over 1000 of these little crosses; offering Jesus! FYI no one has ever refused this amazing gift!

As Christians and disciples, we are not called to be successful, but to be faithful. Doing what we can, with what we have, where we are, to advance Christ`s kingdom,"on earth as it is in heaven." Amen

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
