Busy day on the praying home front. Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying."Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I, Send me!" Just moments from my house, I visited our local store to pick up the morning paper.
Even though Elva has waited on me before, we never exchanged more than a casual hello, thank you and goodbye. Today God surely had me on a mission! Out of the blue, I soon found myself, having the perfect moment to witness to her what God has done in my life. Elva shared that she was trying to quit smoking cigarettes, she has tried unsuccessfully many times.
God`s timing was perfect, I seized the moment to share with Elva my personal struggles with my alcohol addiction and my near 5 years of successful abstinence. Thank you, God!
We remained the only 2 in the store as I continued to share heartfelt compassion and empathy for the desire to rid herself of the tobacco addiction. She also confessed that even though she was raised Catholic, attended Catholic school, she now found herself questioning her faith in God. Years of pain and loss had produced uncertainty on her faith. Tears gently flowed.
I told her my story of my friend Karen`s death and the effects it had on my life; how God had taken this tragedy and allowed me to witness and reach out to others in need. While drawing me into an intimate relationship with Him; allowing me to testify for His amazing Glory!
Psalm 8:1-2 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies to silence the foe and the avenger.
Elva and I held on to one another in a tearful heartfelt hug, then we prayed! I gave her my phone number, encouraging and promising to assist her in desire to conquer her cigarette addiction. Tomorrow is a new day!
Proverbs 3:27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Amen!
