Saturday was a lazy, kicked back sort of day, nowhere to go, a nothing to do day! There was a time when I would have felt guilty for wasting time, but that too has passed, thank you, God.
Ecclesiastes 2:11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.
Rick and I enjoyed our nothingness(is that a word?) day, as we shared our morning coffee. We relaxed in the comfort of our bedroom, sipping java, reading the morning paper, then finding a movie to fill our morning.
The movie drew us back to our childhood and a part of history that we had both witnessed first hand! The movie was about the early presidency of president Kennedy; at the time I was, eleven attending Cecilton Elementary School. The movie reviewed our history, a time when our world was flirting with the possibility of nuclear war.
Rick and I shared our anxiousness and fear that we felt during this time; we both recalled school drills that were practiced, if there was such as disaster! Hello, do you really think, lining up in the hallways or hiding under your desk would have saved our lives! I guess there had to be some sort of plan.
I thank God that this disaster was diverted, ultimately saving our world for future generations! I thank God, for the wisdom and courage that our world leaders choice to follow.
I thank God, that in Cecilton Elementary School and schools around the world that we started our day with the Lord`s Prayer....Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, YOUR WILL BE DONE on earth as it is in heaven...........................thank you, Father, Amen................
