What happens when you bring 12 women together in a two bedroom condo to spend the weekend together? Funny you should ask! Six of 12 knew one another and attend the same church, the other six knew only me! We ranged in ages from 40ish to 65ish. So what would this newly acquainted group have in common? JESUS.......When I extended the invitation, I told them that we were going to spend a prayerful weekend together. Would you accept this invitation?
John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
Praying and trusting God`s lead, led us into a weekend of fellowship and "sisterly" love. Friday evening we settled in, with stories of connections and introductions. We all lead different lives and have different stories, but the common thread that wove us together was friendship! Some how, some way I have been blessed by the friendship of this God-given group of women.
The room was soon filled with laughter, tears, and love; as we tenderly listened to one another. One widow, 3 Emmaus friends, one pastor`s wife, one best friend for over 50 years, and 6 sisters in Christ from Jacob`s Well fell more passionately in love with Jesus. Our expressions of love and compassion for one another filled the room with tears, joy and the face of Jesus Christ.
Thank you God for tissues, Marcy always like to make sure that I have plenty of tissues at hand. I can`t help it, I`m just overwhelmed by God`s faithfulness and love, then the flood begins.
Psalm 80:5 You have fed them with bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful.
With blow-up mattresses strategically placed, we stretched out and settled in like whimsical teenagers, at least in our heart and minds! For the weekend we left behind the cares of the world and focused on one another.
Sunday morning we attended worship at a local church, filling two pews with women glowing with the light of Jesus. Praising, praying, listening and receiving the words and meal from our Heavenly Father.
1 Peter 1:8-9 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Amen!
Thank you Father God, for the loving families that allowed us to enjoy this valuable weekend in "YOUR" love.
