More Farewells Day 95

This morning at Walmart, my good buddy Merle, told me that he thought that the News Journal did a wonderful article about my evangelism. He assured me that this article would touch and inspire someone for sure.

My thanks to Gary Soulsman for this well written story. I never expected to be on the front page of the News Journal. Of course, all praise and glory are for God the Father; we are merely vessels that He uses to reach others!

As today continued to be a day of goodbyes, it occurred to me that unlike my friendships in Chestertown that may end with this job. That may not be the case with 2 friends from Smyrna. Tearfully, I promised to stay in touch with Susie at Acme and Geri at Shore Stop, as we exchanged phone numbers.

I first met Susie many years ago when I had my Sub Shop and she worked at the downtown Acme. At that time we were only business associates but after years of no contract, this reunion was much different. During the past 3 years our friendship has surpassed the reason, season time and moved to the depths of lasting love and friendship for one another. I pray that God will keep this door of friendship open.

Geri on the other hand, there was something special about our friendship from the beginning, about 1 year ago. Even though we didn`t spend a lot of time getting to know one another personally, we simply enjoyed being in one anothers company. Her face would light up when I walked in the door, as I`m sure mine did. I plan to be intentional about keeping in touch with her.

What plans and reasons does God have in mind for these different types of friendships? Only time will tell.

As I returned to my warehouse to load my big brown truck for the final time, I paused to reflect on the past 3 years. I thanked God for this opportunity and the experiences of growth and times of witnessing and touching lives for His glory. For the people that also touched my life. I also thanked Him for the end of this season in my life, no more early morning freezing cold truck loading, no more blistering heat filled days. I failed to realize that Little Debbie distributors are like postal workers, neither rain, nor snow, nor heat of day will prevent fresh Little Debbies from being delivered.

One last day to go! Thank you God!

Ezekiel 7:1-2 The word of the Lord came to me: "Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says to the land of Israel: The End! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.
