Independence Day July 4, 2011 Day 336

Psalm 119:45  I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.

One Nation Under God, the origin of this country, the United Sates of America; the original 13 Colonies declared independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776.  As written  by John Adams: a celebration for generations as a great anniversary festival;  commemorated as a day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.  It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with show, games, sports, bell, bonfires and illumination from one end of the continent to the other.  A celebration from this time forward forever more.

Are we celebrating for the right reasons or has Independence Day been reduced to a three-day weekend, a break for our over-worked society.  Psalm 119:73  Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.  Are we following John Adams advice and commemorating this day of deliverance to God Almighty?

As great as the victory of The 4th of July 1776 truly was and is, how does it compare to the freedom offered by God Almighty?

Exodus 6:6-8 Therefore, say to the Israelites:  I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptian.  I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.  I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.  And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob.  I will give it to you as a possession.  I am the LORD.

These very words are as true today, for each and everyone of us, as they were when the LORD spoke to Moses generations ago.  The word of the LORD remains the same today and for all generations of tomorrows.  Just as our great nation broke ties of  bondage and claimed deliverance, we are also invited to celebrated independence and freedom from the sin in us.

This weekend as we celebrated with friends and family with a backyard camp out; Janine and I had a conversation about my alcohol addiction. She questioned the reason for my sobriety.  I shared that I took an honest look at my addiction; I could see that my addiction was leading down the exact path that consumed my father`s life.  The apple does not fall far from the tree, so true.  John 31:32  "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

From Exodus 6:6 above: The LORD brought me out of the yoke of addiction, he freed me from slavery to alcohol.  He redeemed me with outstretched arms and mighty acts of judgment. With uplifted hands he has brought me to a new life, I am a Child of God, he is my God and I am free!  Cheers!

I treasure my freedom, deliverance and independence; there`s an explosion of fireworks and a parade of love for the LORD within my soul.  Thank you, Father God!

2 Corinthians 3:15-18   Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their heart.  But whenever anyone turns to the LORD, the veil is taken away.  Now the LORD is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the LORD is, there is freedom.  And when, who with unveiled faces all reflect the LORD`S glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

I pray that this weekend you were blessed by the LORD Almighty, Amen!
