Today is the beginning the the 3 day Memorial holiday, my hubby I woke up this morning at 5:30am. Within a half an hour, we were helping with preparations for a 5K walk to benefit our mission group. The walk brought out 50 participants that enjoyed a beautiful walk through the lovely town of Chesapeake City. Thanks to God for such terrific weather and scenery!
After the walk we continued our morning with a leisurely breakfast and shopping trip to the New Castle Farmers Market.
On our way home we passed the Veterans Cemetery. The sight of thousands of flags gently waving in the breeze, brought home the true meaning of the Memorial Day weekend;"All gave some, but some gave all." This incredible sight inspired me to stop in prayer.
Memorial Day is a time to reflect and give thanks to God for all of the men and women throughout the years that have stood up and defended our country and freedom. I thank God that my father returned home safely in 1945, after he so bravely defended our country.
Psalms 37:23-24 If the Lord delight in a man`s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
